New Educational iPhone App Released for He'eia Fishpond - 01.14.2014

The Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology at the University of Hawaii, in partnership with Paepae o He'eia and support from the National Science Foundation and Omidyar Foundation, has just released a new educational iPhone app for He'eia Fishpond on Oahu (Loko I'a o He'eia). The Loko I'a app is an innovative way to engage a broader community in learning about scientific research, environmental stewardship, Hawaiian culture, and community restoration occurring at He'eia Fishpond. The app accomplishes this by creating a user experience that includes interactive tours, science research, photo galleries, and audio about He'eia Fishpond.

The app features both an onsite walking tour (with geo-linked prompts for 5 sites at the fishpond), as well as a virtual tour that anyone can take from anywhere in the world - you need not be in Hawaii to use the app! So if you would like to learn more about He'eia Fishpond and the exciting research happening there (or about Hawaiian Fishponds in general), please give it a try and pass the word - it's FREE!

Go to the iTunes App Store and search "Loko I'a" - then download and explore!
